Love Thursday : 1

4.25.92

It seems like a million years ago... but it's only been sixteen. I love this picture, man were we in love - still are thankfully.

We were married at noon on a beautiful sunny Southern California day in Los Angeles at the Police Academy & Revolver Club's Rock Garden.

If you notice the date, it was the weekend before the L.A. riots broke out ~ if we had planned our wedding for one weekend later, we would have been displaced. The National Guard and everyone else had set up camp at the academy.

We honeymooned in Maui and found out about the riots while eating dinner out one night, the restaurant had the T.V. on. We called home, everyone said they were fine and we were encouraged to enjoy ourselves.

Normally, flights in to LAX come in over land and flights out take off over the ocean. However, because of everything happening, all flights coming in and going out were over the ocean, our flight was delayed. We flew in late at night and you could see hundreds of fires all over the city, it was quite sad.

OK, here's the lighter side... my Dad was working (the riots you know) and my Mom and Sister came to pick us up at the airport. This is still '92, and they arrive at the airport, and I don't recall if they came in to get us or if they just parked at the curb, but "Thelma and Louise" were both packing heat!

Those were the days.

Well, this is ironic, Saturday's theme for The Round Robin Challenge is Shoes, and I'm talking about the shoes I wore to your wedding, and mention the LAX pick-up.

DO you still live in/near LA? We have been close a few times but hubby can't get me to go in, I'm afraid I'll get killed. So I just stay away. :)

    Love the photo!
